Using my university back garden as visual inspiration I wanted to explore the neurodiverse mind, specifically those who have suffered through PTSD.
This was an internal research project, wanted to explore my own feelings with being diagnosed with PTSD and going through therapy for it. I used the destructive techniques of discharge printing and devore to explore safe spaces and the importance they have on those with panic disorders.
I used home as my inspiration, exploring how it is seen as a safe and comforting environment but how that can warp and change to those who have experienced things such as domestic violence. I used my back garden- my safe space- to take these complex contrasts and explore them through the delicate fabrics such as silk and velvet.
